By December 6, 2018 February 6th, 2019 No Comments

We’re starting off December with a Q&A from two more of our amazing team members. Meet Karen Dorfman and Jon Yacovetta! We love seeing how Karen and Jon help our clients each day and we can’t wait to watch them continue to grow in the real estate world.

Karen Dorfman

Where are you from?
Born and raised in Colorado!

What do you like most about Denver?
I love the way Denver can cater to anyone and everyone. No matter your background, where you come from, or what you like, there is a spot for each individual, whether it be an upscale restaurant, a small dive bar, a local art gallery, or an outdoor leisure activity, you are sure to find a place that will resonate with your desires.

What did you do before you became a REALTOR?
I worked in the customer service industry as a personal assistant, nanny, and household manager. I have always felt most comfortable in a job where I can use my skills to help others hone theirs.

What are you passionate about right now in your business?
I am most passionate about the relationships I am building. This industry has opened me up to a whole world of people I might not have otherwise ever met and I am thankful for the friendships and connections I am gaining.

What has been the most rewarding part of working for BSW Real Estate?
Working on a team is extremely fulfilling- I very much appreciate the tight-knit group we are and the ways in which we incorporate that family-esque approach into our business model. I am constantly surrounded by intelligent, driven, compassionate young professionals and that is always pushing me to be better in my own business approach.

What has been your biggest challenge as a REALTOR?
My biggest challenge was getting started- the world of real estate can be overwhelming from the get-go and you often feel like a small fish in a very large pond. Finding the right fit with a brokerage was important to me to supply me with the building blocks necessary for my success. I feel lucky to be a part of a team who takes so much time investing in the prosperity of its members.

What is your favorite part of being a REALTOR?
As I spoke of earlier, I am very excited about all of the people I have had the honor of meeting and the solid connections I will cherish for years to come, both clients and colleagues. I am very much a people-person and thrive off of genuine interaction, so this job has given me the chance to exercise my ability to connect and relate on a personal level with those who choose to use me professionally.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
I love hiking, yoga, tennis, reading, volunteering, and spending time with my family and friends, whether that be a night out listening to live music or finding a new trail or other outdoor adventure to partake in.

What is your favorite restaurant in Denver?
Guard and Grace has one of my favorite atmospheres and menus in Denver- if you haven’t tried the oak-fired octopus, it is incredible!

What’s one thing about you that many people may not know?
I have a goal for myself to one day write a fictional novel. I have, over the years, toyed with different plots, characters, and concepts, often writing small chapters at a time. I hope to eventually put it all on paper as one congruent story.

Why should people work with BSW Real Estate?
Our team is built of a group of people with integrity, compassion, and a knowledge base about the Denver market that will ensure your home-buying experience is memorable, enjoyable, and smooth.

Jon Yacovetta

Where are you from?
Denver, CO.

What do you like most about Denver?
Denver has a little something for everyone. I can scratch my itches to play golf, go fishing, watch great sports, participate in an artistic culture, see and hear my favorite music at great venues, and it’s full of interesting and diverse communities of people which are all-inclusive and welcoming.

What did you do before you became a REALTOR?
I was the Language Arts Department Chair and AP English Teacher at Venture Prep High School, and the Head Baseball Coach at George Washington High School for seven and eight years, respectively.

What are you passionate about right now in your business?
I’m passionate, right now, about learning this business. Specifically, I’m fascinated by the nuances that go into the massive and complex transactions we’re navigating. I want to be sure that once I get my clients to the closing table, that I can minimize the “Umm…I’m not sure” moments. My focus right now is sharpening my eye for detail, and learning the ins and outs of the contract-to-closing process of this business so that my clients can breathe easy knowing this extremely important decision is in capable, qualified hands.

What has been the most rewarding part of working for BSW Real Estate?
Undeniably, the amount of support I’ve received from Ally, Karen, Madison, Rhyan, and Bret has been the most rewarding part of working with the BSW Team so far. I feel welcome and supported, and I feel that I’m growing rapidly in a new business thanks directly to that level of comfort and support. Also, getting to see and talk to one of my dearest friends on a daily basis is a pretty special bonus.

What has been your biggest challenge as a REALTOR?
Allowing myself to be uncomfortable, and embracing new ways to interact with people.

What is your favorite part of being a REALTOR?
I get to be myself every day, and again, support a wide variety of people navigate a daunting and intimidating process. It’s been fascinating and illuminating to observe and interact with clients during a process that’s pretty intimate. When I’m able to make them laugh and loosen up, each interaction has become fun and unique.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
I love to play golf, watch and talk baseball, read and write as much as I can, play and compose music, cook, drink good wine, and hang with my doggy.

What is your favorite restaurant in Denver?
Crown Burger on Colorado and Evans. Local, family-owned, vintage burger joint. There is not a better burger in the world. I’ve tried to find it. It doesn’t exist.

What’s one thing about you that many people may not know?
I’m a two-time Young American Bowlers’ Association State Champion!

Why should people work with BSW Real Estate?
The knowledge of the real estate business and the process of purchasing, selling, and investing in real estate is comprehensive and second-to-none. More importantly, our dedication belongs to the people and not to the transaction. We’ll always have been a part of some of the biggest life decisions people can make, and that is a notion that is sacred, and never taken for granted in the BSW Group.

Jon studied Spanish and English at the University of Kansas, where he earned his B.A. in Spanish in 2006.
